Lee Gladden (Witherspoon Asset Management) and Omer Ahmed (Abaris) created AltStrat in 2020, a new iteration of a long-standing alternative investment strategy. Dean D’Onofrio, CIO of the seed investor, assisted AltStrat’s due diligence efforts, particularly in risk assessment and fund management. Marc Lorin is an essential part of the AltStrat team as a consultant to the Fund, providing additional expertise in sourcing traders, risk management, and portfolio design analytics.
This combination of complementary experience and different perspectives has helped engineer AltStrat to become a bellwether investment for family offices and strategic investors.

Managing AltStrat is a dynamic process. The Investment Committee meets several times each month, constantly monitors the fund's portfolio, and builds a team of traders who complement each other to produce consistent results.

Lee is the founder and head of Witherspoon Asset Management and chairs the Investment Committee for AltStrat Investments. He was an officer at Commodities Corporation (CC) in Princeton, NJ from 1981-1988. Lee was responsible for structuring and distributing their funds utilizing a multi-trader, multi-strategy approach that comprised the industry's largest guaranteed futures funds. After leaving CC, Lee was a partner in firms which managed liquid alt portfolios for Japanese trading firms and other institutional investors.
Lee has been working with alternative investment managers and allocating capital to liquid alternative strategies for forty years. He is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Omer is a member of the Investment Committee for AltStrat Investments. He also founded Abaris in 2008, and Abaris is the Fund Advisor for AltStrat Investments. Omer has advised on and allocated capital to a range of alternative asset portfolios and served as Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns. He also held senior management positions at Credit Agricole Indosuez Bank, Merrill Lynch International and ABN AMRO. In all of these positions, he managed teams, nurtured traders, and developed professionals in the fields of alternative investments, international strategies, structured products, specialized trading, and wealth management. He was on the Advisory Board of the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities, and the CAIA. Omer is a graduate of Washington University (St. Louis) and completed a post Graduate program in Behavioral Finance (Harvard University’s Kennedy School)
Dean D’Onofrio is the Managing Member and Chief Investment Officer of BEL45 Capital, LLC. Dean leads the AltStrat Investments Advisory Board. Dean has over 40 plus years of experience in the business, having managed alternative asset strategies and proprietary trading business unites, as well as the Equity-Linked Capital Markets and Equity Derivatives Sales & Trading divisions at both Bankers Trust and Merrill Lynch. Dean has also co-founded multi-strategy and single-strategy hedge fund businesses, managing assets on behalf of Institutional Investors, Family Offices, Fund of Funds and “blue chip” Hedge Funds.

Marc is a member of the Investment Committee for AltStrat Investments, and he was actively consulting with the AltStrat team when the Fund was established in 2020. Marc currently serves as Chief Investment Officer for New Hyde Park Alternative Funds LLC. With over 30 years in the alternatives investment and financial service industry, Marc has a wealth of experience ranging from investment management to structuring to institutional sales focusing on managed futures and global macro hedge fund strategies.
Marc was previously Director of Strategic Relationships at Coquest Advisors and President and Co-CIO of Liquid Strategies where he co-managed the Fort Rock Managed Futures Fund. Before joining Fort Rock, Mr. Lorin was the Acting Head of the Americas Alternative Investment Solutions team at Newedge USA, a division of Société Générale. Marc received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Florida’s Warrington School of Business.
Tatiana joined Witherspoon in December of 2013. She is a member of the Investment Committee for AltStrat Investments. Her primary responsibilities include operations, compliance, and research support. Working closely with the AltStrat team, Tatiana tracks trader information, evaluates performance, and prepares statistical comparative reporting. She also provides support across a range of financial analysis efforts and operational diligence matters. She prepares NFA filings and is responsible for research and analysis on CTA manager performance analytics and strategy allocations for Witherspoon’s multi-advisor investment funds. Prior to joining Witherspoon, Tatiana worked as an analyst at Financial Markets Analysis, LLC. She performed research and analysis in conjunction with computation of economic damages for complex business, shareholder, bondholder and ERISA litigations, M&A and other securities litigation engagements. Tatiana is a graduate of Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ, and holds a B.S. in economics and finance and an M.B.A. in finance, both degrees received with highest honors.
